What is your role at CCC? Student Ministry Pastor

What do you do at CCC? I oversee the youth ministry at CCC. I work with both the youth leaders and the teens, helping them to know God more and show his love in their lives. To accomplish this I teach, mentor, disciple, counsel, and of course have fun with them.

How and when did you come to CCC? I was introduced to Jon by a mutual friend at the homecoming weekend at Baptist Bible College in October 2009. After some further interaction with Jon, I was asked to come for an informal visit to CCC in December. We came back a second time near the end of January for a more formal visit and shortly after that I was offered the position.

What is your educational and ministry background?
Education:
BS in Bible-Baptist Bible College (Clarks Summit, PA)
M Div-Baptist Bible Seminary (Clarks Summit, PA)
Ministry:
Intern/Director of Support Ministries (4.5 years)-Summit Baptist Bible Church (Clarks Summit, PA)
Student Ministry Pastor-Cocalico Community Chapel (Denver, PA) 2010-

Tell me about your spiritual journey. I grew up in a Christian home and heard the gospel and good bible teaching since I was very young. At the age of 11, I trusted Christ as my Savior after a chapel service at camp. I was baptized a couple years after that. As I went through the rest of my school years, I grew in knowledge, but my relationship with God did not develop much. This is mostly because I had not learned what it took to have a real, close relationship with people, let alone God. Throughout high school I lived my life like a "Sunday Christian." My friends at school knew I was a Christian, but mostly because of the things I "couldn't" do. In college, I had the opportunity to be discipled by Ted Boykin, a professor and the resident director of my dorm. God used him in my life to help me work through a couple circumstances that God used to reveal to me my inability to relate deeply with people and with Him. From that time on, I have been growing in and deepening my relationship with God.

What is your favorite section of the Bible? I don't really have one particular favorite section of the Bible. I probably tend to spend most of my time studying the New Testament.

What kind of music do you listen to? I enjoy a wide range of music but mostly listen to Contemporary Christian Music.

What is your favorite thing to do, besides serving at CCC? I love spending time with my family and friends, as well as watching and playing all kinds of sports. I love football (Go Steelers!), basketball, golf and many other sports. However, there is one sport that I love the most and that is SOCCER!!! I played soccer in high school and college and had the opportunity to coach a high school team for 7 years.

Tell us about your family. I met my wife, Jen, while we were in college. We were married on September 7, 2002. She is the love of my life and keeps everything running smoothly in our home. She loves assisting me in ministry, playing and watching sports, and raising our girls. God has blessed us with two wonderful daughters. Kaylee was born on February 22, 2006 and is our girly-girl who loves princesses and playing dress up. Ashlyn was born on August 15, 2008, and is the family dare-devil. She loves to climb on everything and is fearless. As a family we love to play, go for walks outside and go to the beach!

What is your dream for CCC? My dream for CCC is that the youth ministry reflects and accomplishes the vision if the church, to connect students to God, each other and the world. I want the teens to be a vital part of the life of the church and have a lasting connection to CCC long after they graduate. I want the teens of CCC to know and understand God and what he has done for them. I want them to learn how to develop and cultivate their personal relationships with Jesus and form life-long habits of holiness. I want to see them impact their family, their church, their school, their community and their world with the truth of the gospel and the love of Christ.
